A few more good reasons why we don’t use pesticides...

Did you know there’s a plethora of beneficial predatory insects occurring naturally in your garden and even finding their way into your potted plants? They’ll reproduce into a healthy army of pest and disease fighters all while gobbling up the tiny insects that damage your prized flowers and plants.

These tiny soldiers will search and destroy aphids, whitefly pupa, thrips, mealy bugs, leaf hoppers, spider mites and other soft-bodied insects. When you take home a plant from our greenhouse, chances are pretty good that you’re carrying home the beginnings of your own elite special forces dedicated to devouring the pests that threaten your flowers and plants.

That tiny wasp you see is an aphid parasitoid next to an aphid mummy. She’ll lay her eggs in aphids where each larva will hatch and develop inside the aphid, killing it. As the larva pupates inside, the aphid body turns into a “mummy” of sorts… tan, rounded, papery in appearance. Once mature, the adult parasite chews open a trap door and pops out to repeat the cycle!

Also pictured is our ladybug friend and a ladybug larva, both voracious eaters of many flower pests.

Beneath that is a lacewing larva, looking dragon-like as it skewers its next victim meal.

And the final pic is a predatory mite, quick and agile as it hunts down and devours thrips and other tiny flower pests.

So when you take home our BEAUTIFUL flower baskets, planters & small pots to embellish your outdoor living areas, not only are you adding healthy, lush color, you're also bringing a host of beneficial pest control to your yard and garden!

Today, while our nation observes Memorial Day with hotdogs, burgers & steaks on the grill, swimming, sunning, resting & relaxing, let us not forget the immeasurable price paid in life and blood by America's soldiers serving and protecting those freedoms we enjoy.

We remember and honor these noble heroes with gratitude and distinction.
May God bless and comfort their bereaved loved ones. We recognize, for them, every day is Memorial Day.
