Auraria Library

At the Auraria Library, we love books--and we love that the 2026 Colorado Book Awards will be at the Tivoli on the Auraria Campus this weekend, cohosted by our own Metropolitan State University of Denver! Colorado Humanities & Center for the Book

Join us for the Colorado literary event of the year!
It’s a wonderful opportunity for a night out to be around wonderful members of our Colorado literary community, and the event is open to everyone!

Enjoy a cocktail hour with Colorado authors and fellow bookworms, a photobooth where you can make memories with family and friends, shopping with our partner bookseller Second Star to the Right, and wrap up the lovely evening with delicious dessert in celebration of the winners. This is a wonderful opportunity to network and support Colorado Humanities and our amazing community of writers, editors, and illustrators. Ryan Warner, Senior Host of CPR’s Colorado Matters, opens the night with a keynote address, and Poet Laureate Crisosto Apache will do a brief poetry reading before our Emcee, Adrian Miller, leads us through the evening.

This is a beloved and longstanding celebration of creativity, books, and human connection you won’t want to miss. Tickets are available for purchase, so make sure you grab yours soon on our website!

So exciting to see filling up with activity as we start the school year! We met lots of folks at Block Party yesterday, and you can find us at campus events (and in the Library, corner of 10th+Lawrence) all year long.

The Auraria Library first opened its doors on July 15, 1976--50 years ago today! Then, we served 18,000 students (today, more than 38,000) and had about 120,000 volumes (we now offer access to over 2 million, in print and digitally).

We're looking forward to our next half century supporting access, inclusion, and achievement across and beyond .
