"For roughly 30 percent of Americans — children, older adults, people with disabilities, and households without a vehicle — driving is not an option. For nearly everyone else, the built environment makes it the only practical way to reach a job or a grocery store. We have grown so used to automobile dependence that we no longer notice the shackles. The “freedom” on offer is pure car-dealer Americana — red, white, blue, and one more promise that the next round of expansion will finally clear the traffic."
Washington is Creating the Most Expensive Traffic Jam in the World — Streetsblog USA "That isn’t conservatism. It’s debt-financed dependency with a flag decal."

"Preventable deaths and injuries in car crashes, unacceptable violent outcomes from the most common form of police community member contact — these are both public health crises . . . It’s an opportune time to learn from the progress we’ve made on both fronts, and to double down on that progress."
Street Safety and Police Reform Are Two Sides of the Same Coin — Streetsblog USA America's broken approaches to roadway safety and criminal justice are deeply interconnected.

"The choice isn’t between supporting businesses and building better transit. We can, and should, do both. What Denver needs now isn’t hesitation. We need leadership that acknowledges short-term challenges, addresses them directly, and keeps our city moving forward, not stagnating."

We have a real chance to fix Colorado Blvd.
Done right, this project means a safer street, less stop-and-go traffic, and a faster, more reliable way to get around. Done halfway? It’s just traffic with branding.
The difference is whether buses get their own lanes.

Colorado Blvd doesn’t have to be stressful, unsafe, and congested.
There’s a plan to transform it—with fast, frequent, reliable buses, major safety upgrades, and better walking and biking—but we'll only see this transformation if buses have their own lanes.
If that piece gets watered down, we’re left with a big investment and little real improvement.

🚨“Mixed Flow” is just traffic with branding.
Bus Rapid Transit on Colorado Blvd should be high-quality BRT that transforms the corridor and provides convenient transportation options while improving safety for everyone. NOT buses stuck in the same congestion as cars.
CDOT's stuck on the status quo. Show up May 13 (anytime 5–7 p.m., Clayton Early Learning Center) and tell them you want real BRT with dedicated bus-only lanes, then join our nerdy after-party to debrief. RSVP with us for reminders: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/1988638650737?aff=oddtdtcreator
