Here's my quick hack I share with my author clients and even remind myself!
Stop talking to the camera. Start talking to ONE person.
Picture your ideal reader. Your favorite client or best friend. Someone you'd FaceTime without thinking twice. Now imagine they're on the other end of your phone asking you exactly what you know best.
That's it.
Because here's what I see all the time: authors who can command a room, hold an audience, own a stage — freeze when it comes to recording a video for their social.
Give yourself the right context and things get easier. Same you — just visible. 🎥
Remember, your readers don't want perfect. They want present.

Last night we were all Puerto Rico 🇵🇷
Thank you for the show of a lifetime. I couldn't understand a single lyric, but somehow I understood it all. As a designer, I was completely mesmerized by the intentional storytelling, the explosive use of color🌈, and every single visual detail. The way Bruce Rodgers of Tribe, Creative director Harriet Cuddeford .la and the production team brought Benito's vision to life was nothing short of visceral—from the set design to the costumes to the choreography, everything was purposeful, alive, and bursting with Latin pride and energy. Pure visual poetry.
