1979 - Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa - Knoxville Nationals - Danny Smith was in the Bobby Marshall #19 sprint car for the Knoxville Nationals.

Bobby Marshall, "Danny drove my car at the 1979 nationals after I was critically injured in a crash in June of 79 at Devils Bowl,the neuroligist told me to never race again but I came back in 1980 in our Stanton car,Danny won the Mystery Feature on friday night and finished 6th. in The Nationals driving for my Dad.I have some pictures in my albums with Danny sitting in the car and Mike Arthur has a great photo of Jack Miller interviewing Danny with my Dad after the Mystery feature in his second book,Old School 1979 - volume 2. Great books by Mike Old School volumes 1 and2"

Bobby Marshall,Shane I wish we could have been at Knoxville at the same time,the first night Sherry and I got there we went to the Thursday night qualifing night for the 360 nationals and Lora Hall got us in the suites and I ended up sitting with Bob Trostle in his spot in the 2nd floor suite and we talked racing for two hours,amazing stories and alot about you and the next day we went to the museum with Woody and his wife and we met up with Gordon O'Field,Dave Hill and Gene Marderness. Gene had several great photos of my cars,my Mom and Dad,Sherry and Allison and Roger at East Bay when I won the qualifing night,anyway I just recieved some of those pictures in the mail from Gene and they are some I had never seen,he also gave me a great picture of James at Pocono.Soory to hear about Mr. Maxwell,I talked to a Goodyear guy at Iowa Speedway and we talked about you and I told him to tell you hi at the funeral.Do you remember Roger's last name and didn't he work for Maxwell.You do get the good pictures and you are famous everywhere,By the way I saw the picture of you and Jeff with Shirley Kears at Knoxville !"

Bobby Marshall, "This was the same day,same race at Devils Bowl and some guy brought these "models" out and took these photos with pretty much all of us and then he wanted to take orders to sell the pictures.That is Randy Smith in the Jensen car and these same pictures have been put on all these sites since I got on the first ones back in 2010.Lanny did run them off when he found out they were selling this stuff at his place and he wasn't getting a cut,I have one of me with the same gals,I think they could be had for a price ???"
