Diabetes is a major driver of kidney and heart risk. CDC’s National Diabetes Statistics Report provides current prevalence and shows millions of cases are undiagnosed.

· Nutrition patterns matter: CDC reports the average adult consumed about 17 teaspoons of added sugars per day (2017–2018).

· Action: Check labels for added sugars, choose water/unsweetened drinks more often, and build meals around fruits/vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats.

Did you know...Glaucoma is a leading cause of irreversible blindness often called the "silent thief of sight" because its most common form, open-angle glaucoma, has no early warning signs. It involves damage to the optic nerve, typically from high fluid pressure inside the eye. While there is no cure, early detection via regular eye exams is critical to managing the condition and preventing vision loss.

What causes cervical cancer?

Over 90% of cervical cancers are caused by persistent infections with certain high-risk types of the Human Papillomavirus (HPV), a common sexually transmitted infection, making it the primary cause. While most HPV infections clear up, some can linger and lead to cell changes that develop into cancer over time, especially in those with weakened immune systems or who smoke.

What are early signs of glaucoma?

Early glaucoma often has no symptoms (the "silent thief of sight"), but watch for halos around lights, gradual loss of side (peripheral) vision, blurry or cloudy vision, difficulty seeing in the dark, and persistent eye redness. More severe signs, like sudden eye pain, headaches, nausea, vomiting, or sudden vision loss, can signal a medical emergency (acute angle-closure glaucoma) and require immediate care.
