✨ Clinician Spotlight: Aubree Brewer, MSW, SWC ✨
Aubree was inspired to pursue social work after seeing firsthand how limited access to mental health care can impact families and communities. That early awareness shaped her commitment to making mental health support feel attainable, normalized, and stigma-free for everyone.

💬 What she loves most about her work:
Witnessing growth in real time. Aubree finds it especially rewarding to work with middle school students, who continually impress her with their self-awareness, honesty, and optimism. Being a consistent, safe adult in their lives is something she values deeply.

🌱 A moment that stays with her:
Seeing students reflect on their own behaviors, take accountability in friendships, and commit to being more understanding and supportive. Those moments of emotional growth and maturity are powerful reminders of why this work matters.

🎶 Outside the office:
Aubree enjoys walks in new places, music, dancing, and spending quality time with her kids, moments that help her stay grounded, creative, and connected to joy.

🔍 Looking ahead:
This year, Aubree is excited to deepen her use of research, data, and intentional treatment planning to help clients build lifelong coping skills and a reliable mental health toolkit.

We are grateful to have Aubree as part of our community 💚

We are deeply grateful for our long partnership with St. Elizabeth's K-8 School, Denver, CO which has been part of our Susan’s School Counseling Program since it was founded in 2010, paving the way for partnerships with many other schools.

For sixteen years, we have had the privilege of supporting students, families, and staff through a relationship rooted in care, trust, and shared commitment to student well-being. As St. Elizabeth’s closes its doors, we want to express our sincere appreciation for the collaboration, community, and dedication that made this partnership so meaningful.

We wish the St. Elizabeth’s community all the best in what comes next. Your impact will be felt for years to come.

Ignoring mental health concerns does not make them go away. In many cases, it can make things feel heavier over time. Paying attention to our emotional well-being can help us notice patterns, respond with care, and seek support before burnout or crisis sets in.

Mental health care is about listening early, not waiting until things feel overwhelming.

Mental health care is not a last resort. It can be part of how we stay well, grounded, and connected to ourselves and others.

Therapy is not only for moments of crisis. It can support reflection, growth, healing, and prevention long before things feel unbearable. Seeking support can be a proactive choice, one that helps us build skills, understand our patterns, and care for our mental health over time.

You do not have to be struggling “enough” to deserve support.

🌟 Clinician Spotlight: Kira Colgan, MS, LMFT 🌟

Kira Colgan’s path to mental health work was shaped early by family, language, and service. With both parents working in mental health, her inspiration came close to home. Her mother served as a social worker in Los Angeles public schools, while her father, a clinical psychologist, dedicated his career to supporting Spanish speaking refugee communities. Kira even began learning Spanish alongside her father as a preschooler, including living with a host family in Mexico at just five years old. Those early experiences helped guide her to the work she does today, supporting students at two bilingual schools through Centus.

What Kira loves most about her work is listening to stories. Known in her family as the “family historian,” she has always been someone who wanted to truly know people and remember their experiences. That passion continues with her clients, each one bringing a new story and opportunity for growth. After 11 years at Escuela de Guadalupe, Kira feels deeply connected to the school community and now finds herself attending Quinceañeras for students she once knew as kindergarteners.

Some of her most meaningful moments come when former students reach out after graduating. One especially powerful reminder of why she does this work arrived in the form of a handwritten note from a former student who had been quiet during sessions. Years later, the student shared how much their work together had helped her through a difficult time. Kira has kept that note as a reminder that even when progress is not visible, therapeutic support can be life changing.

Outside of work, Kira enjoys being active and spending time outdoors with her family. She met her husband skiing and now loves watching their kids fall in love with the sport that first brought them together. She also enjoys cooking and time at home with her family.

This year, Kira is excited to expand her work even further. After more than a decade at Escuela de Guadalupe, she is now serving at two schools and looks forward to continuing to build strong relationships at Newlon Elementary while deepening her collaboration with that community.

We are grateful for Kira’s dedication, heart, and lasting impact on the school communities she serves. 💙

Alcohol misuse doesn’t just affect individuals — it affects families, workplaces, and entire communities. Alcohol Awareness Month is an opportunity to reflect on how we, together, can create environments that reduce stress, support healthier choices, and encourage emotional safety. National prevention efforts emphasize increasing public understanding of alcohol misuse and offering resources that help communities respond early.

At Centus, we believe that prevention is strengthened when communities invest in mental wellness. When people feel connected, supported, and equipped with tools to manage life’s challenges, they’re less likely to turn to alcohol as a coping mechanism. Evidence based community strategies — like sharing accurate information, reducing risk factors, and fostering supportive networks — have been shown to reduce harmful alcohol use and promote long term health.

04/20/2026

April is Alcohol Awareness Month, a time to recognize how alcohol misuse affects not just physical health but emotional and mental well being. At Centus, we see every day how alcohol misuse often emerges from underlying struggles—stress, anxiety, trauma, or feeling emotionally overwhelmed. Counseling can play a crucial role in helping people understand their relationship with alcohol, build coping strategies, and develop healthier patterns.

💙 You don’t have to navigate change alone. Centus counselors are here to support emotional wellness, strengthen resilience, and help you pursue a healthier, balanced life.
