Happy Earth Day 2021!
We hold the fate of all organisms on the planet in our hands, from the pangolins we rescue, to the ants they eat, to the habitats they share with other creatures.
Conserving pangolins and their habitats is one small part of the whole picture. What have you taken on as a daily practice that will help conserve the earth and reverse climate change?

It is well known that zoonotic diseases like Ebola and COVID-19 can get their start in live animal markets across the world. Not only are these markets inhumane, unhygienic, and contributing to biodiversity loss, they are also very likely to lead to another global pandemic. As an organization committed to One Health principles, we therefore think it’s critical that the United States Government pass the Preventing Future Pandemics Act (S. 37/H.R. 151) as soon as possible.
This bipartisan bill presented by Senators John Cornyn (R-TX) and Cory Booker (D-NJ), and Representatives Mike Quigley (D-IL-5) and Fred Upton (R-MI-6) calls for global action to end the trade in live wildlife for human consumption. It will also end the import, export, and sale of most live wild animals for consumption through either food or medicine in the USA.
We urge you to join our friends at IFAW (International Fund for Animal Welfare) in a virtual lobby day, with discussions about the legislation and the significance it carries. Following discussions, there will be coordinated constituent meetings with your Senators and Representatives so you can have your voice heard!

Love the good work the people at Sangha Lodge are doing for pangolins. ❤️
A few days ago we received a beautiful black-bellied pangolin into our care. This young female came in weighing 670 g, a bit dehydrated and spooked after a long journey on the road from a village outside the forest reserve. The individual who brought her in told us she was saved by hunters, but we are still investigating the circumstances around her capture to better understand the situation. Dzanga-Sangha park management has been notified and we will keep them updated. We are so pleased to see that the local communities are aware of our work and wanting to help pangolins, and we want to continue to make sure that people respond to these situations in the best way possible. Ultimately, we strive to inform and educate on how to minimize interference with wildlife and encourage people to leave pangolins in the forest where they belong.
For now, she is being closely monitored and is responding well to the ants we are feeding her. She has really perked up and we aim to release her as soon as possible!

Just look at this beauty!!
Quite possibly the most remarkable mammal walking around .tula...the Pangolin.
It had been a couple of years since my last sighting, so when I was heading out for a run this morning and heard some colleagues talking excitedly about something they had found, I couldn’t help but enquire what it was...needless to say, my run was a little delayed!

The Covid-19 culprit is us, not pangolins Robert F. Breiman writes that preliminary indications are that pangolins served as an intermediate host for Covid-19, but if pangolins could talk, they would claim no responsibility for the outbreaks they have been associated with. The culprit is us.
