Another holiday decor piece we’re selling this year: these beautiful crochet snowflake garlands! These are handmade by my friend Ana, the fearless mother of an immigrant family trying to carve out a new life for themselves during one of the most difficult times to be an immigrant in the US. I immediately bought one of these for myself— they’re SO well made. Each garland is seven feet long with ten snowflakes (and the snowflakes are sturdy enough that they don’t curl). $25 a piece, with $5 for shipping ❄️

The Simple Kind started with the vision to stand alongside and empower marginalized women in the garment industry. We spent time learning about exploitation, trafficking, and fair trade in Amsterdam, Latvia, Hungary, Thailand, and Cambodia, and in every location, we repeatedly encountered one key fact that has changed the way we think, shop, and vote:

Almost always, women who are exploited for their labor are financially vulnerable migrants.

The past few years, I (Molly) have been working with migrants in the US: asylum seekers and refugees who have come from all over the world looking for a better life for themselves & their children. Simultaneously, our government has been making life harder and harder for migrants, leaving them more vulnerable than ever to exploitation. I want to share these stories with you, because right now, that’s what it means to stand alongside and empower marginalized women in my neighborhood, my city, my country.

I’ve met MANY women from all over the world who are incredibly talented crafters, and tomorrow I’ll be posting the first of our new Christmas decor pieces made by those very women 🤗 So stay tuned for a new chapter of The Simple Kind!

Thank you all for being here and supporting us 💛

Top o’ the morning to y’all! I wanted to show you a bit of what I’ve been working on and get a little feedback. I’ve collected so many vintage or thrifted fabrics the past few years, and I feel like my style lately has been leaning towards these sort of structured-yet-loose tops & dresses.
Going wading through late summer creeks, water bottle in one hand and glass of rosé in the other (that was me yesterday)? You can wear these ✔️Going out to hear music and have dinner under the cicadas and stars? You can wear these ✔️ They’re super versatile and very cute, IMO. My plan is to make a handful in different sizes and list them all at once, sell out, and start over. I’m ALSO working on tweaking our old wrap dress pattern to have more room in the bust & movability.
What do u think? What would you like to see come from TSK this fall?
