Latest story - the one about the amazing nurturing soul I met at the ROSE by SIG SAUER Retreat in March.
"If you’ve spent any time at all on the ROSE Facebook community, you have certainly seen a comment by Almita Reeves. Alma (Almita is a diminutive of her given name which means “soul” in Spanish) is truly the heart and soul of the community, offering motivation, encouragement, love, wisdom, and humor to everyone in the group."
We're thrilled to feature ROSE Community Member Almita Reeves in our most recent blog post!

It’s always cool seeing your work in print, but I was particularly excited to get my hardcopy version of the 40 Under 40 feature. This was a challenging multi-faceted project that we took on during the worst of the pandemic shutdowns last spring. But the excitement and caliber of the nominees was tremendously inspiring. Congratulations to those we featured, I’m proud to work with you in this industry!!

We had so. much. fun. on Saturday at the inaugural Women in the Media shoot at the Cameo Shooting and Education Center. It was my first time trying IDPA and Steel Challenge pistol shooting (I’ve always been a shotgun girl - and the sporting clays course does not disappoint!) but we had such a blast and will definitely be trying more handgun shooting. It was also great to spend time with some of the women in Grand Junction media who were out trying something new!
Thanks for hosting us - you have a gem in this incredible facility!

You contemplate life more closely when walking through the peace and beauty of nature. We had a fabulous weekend on the prairies of eastern Montana. Success with the sharptails and doves, no luck once again with the Huns. But we now have more sharpie feathers for my daughter’s jewelry and had an incredible time together as a family and with good friends. Life is weird right now - but it’s still good!

A reprise in of my article about the first goose hunt in Nebraska. This originally ran in the Summer 2019 issue of the magazine. We had a wonderful time, ate amazingly well, and enjoyed every moment at - took beautiful photos to remember it all. Can’t wait to hunt with you ladies again!

One of my more recent projects hit the streets today - I helped the American Wildlife Conservation Partners and Boone and Crockett Club put the report together and roll it out to the media.
Lots of important recommendations for conservation policy in these pages. Do yourself a favor and read them... and then share them!
Conservation Recommendations Finalized for Next Presidential Administration MISSOULA, Mont. – The nation’s top 50 hunting conservation organizations today released their policy recommendations for the next White House Administration and the next two Congresses.

One of the many different hats I wear is as podcast host with Steve Belinda on the Mule Deer Foundation’s Talking Mule Deer Podcast. We have a lot of fun, talk to some interesting guests - and all in about a 30 minute conversation. This particular episode is a great one to listen to as Mark Damian Duda is truly one of the most important researchers out there studying the human side of wildlife management, hunting, and conservation. Give it a listen and then go through our list of past episodes - you’re guaranteed to find something of interest!
“Human Dimensions” with Responsive Management's Mark Duda

Today Steve and Jodi are talking to Mark Duda, one of the leading researchers studying what is known as the “human dimensions” of wildlife management. Mark explains what human dimensions is and why understanding the people side of conservation needs to be done in the same scientific process that drives the actual management of species.
We hear about the results of some of his latest research, along with Responsive Management’s long-term studies about public opinion about hunting. We talk about the difference between animal rights and animal welfare, and how the majority of hunters respect animals and care about the welfare of the wildlife they pursue. He also gives us the top three arguments that you can use in defense of hunting, and ones that are the least effective.
As Mark says, if you can control the language you can control the conversation.
Tune in, and give both the Talking Mule Deer Podcast and Responsive Management a like/follow!

And then there were two magazines with my byline on the newsstands at the same time! I’m proud of my Upland Almanac story connecting a century of South Dakota pheasant hunting with conservation in the state. Good habitat = good hunting! -
Thanks to , and for their help with research!
