Colorado is enduring one of its worst droughts on record, and a late freeze diminished fruit and vegetable harvests across the state this year. Farmers are losing crops, restaurants are losing menu items, and families are paying more at the table. This isn’t a distant problem — it’s showing up in kitchens and on grocery shelves right now. Colorado’s food culture is built on the people who grow our food, and this year’s losses will be felt deeply across the state. Support your local farmers where you can, including at local farmers markets and at local restaurants that prioritize working with local farmers.

Bao-nuts are a new sensation at Rioja and this weekend is a great time to try them! Executive pastry chef Eric Dale steams his dough bao-style, then fries each one to order and fills it with blueberry compote and a whipped lemon mascarpone — a doughnut like nothing else on a Denver brunch menu (and available during brunch service only). 💛

Denver’s Rioja features a menu inspired by Mediterranean ingredients and influenced by local and seasonal products. The restaurant’s got a copper-topped bar, an exhibition kitchen, and simple and elegant decor that allows the food to shine. 💛
