Butterfly W**d. When I was a kid, this would appear in summer in isolated pockets in the rolling meadows above the beach. Flashes of bright orange. My Mom would explain how special and rare this was. During Covid, I ordered a shriveled up dryroot and skeptically planted it in a small bare area next to the fountain. Voila! I discovered a few volunteers nestled in with the Blue Mist Spirea. Thanks to my Mom 😍 for making me focus on all pieces and parts of a special meadow landscape 🫶🏽

“It’s not been a cheap project, but we wanted to do it right and then leave this here for the veterans in our community,” said Kent Fredrickson, the center’s director. “We wanted to keep this storefront on Lincoln as a visible reminder of the veterans’ contribution to the community, and also just kind of how beautiful these buildings are.” Congratulations to the Steamboat Veterans Center for their vision and dedication, and to all the vets and community members.
