My Sustainability Journey | Webster Designs 11/01/2019

This year I decided to take a bit of a sabbatical away from design to explore my passion for sustainability. I’ve been getting my hands dirty volunteering on permaculture farms in Australia, learning the ways of these creative, self-sustaining farmers. This experience has been a gift that I don’t take for granted.

As I anticipate my return to Colorado soon, I’ve been taking some time to reflect on my journey. While beginnings were humble-- and I still feel humble today-- there is so much work to be done in the future and I can't wait to be a part of it.

My Sustainability Journey | Webster Designs My Sustainability JourneySustainability Growing up, I loved nature. I played in the woods and the river behind my house, pretending I was Mowgli from the Jungle Book. But I didn’t know it as the “environment”. Like most people, I didn’t think of it on a grand scale.   It wasn’t until I mo...

Corporate Social Responsibility from a Design Perspective 04/26/2019

How can designers uniquely participate in Corporate Social Responsibility practices? Here are my takeaways from my recent class at CU.

Corporate Social Responsibility from a Design Perspective Lately I have been asking myself "How might I, a small but mighty UX designer, make an impact on the world?" Through my experience of working with purpose driven companies and taking actions on a personal level, I have realized that there is a lot of potential impact that we can all strive for. I wa

Sticky Art @ FWI 04/11/2019

Throughout the years at Four Winds I had the pleasure of creating and installing sticky art with my teammates :) I love creating fun pixel art, but it was even more enjoyable to see the reactions of bystanders walking down Broadway. There's nothing like bringing a smile to a stranger's face.

Chelsea Hostetter & Ahmed Riaz: Designing for Play : What Interaction Design Can Learn From... 04/12/2016

I thoroughly enjoyed this talk on "What Interaction Design Can Learn From Video Games" by designers at frog design. They explored different types of game designs and how they can be applied to non-game UI/applications. Some techniques they explored include narrative discovery, trial and error, awareness of choice and open sandbox.

I was particularly intrigued by their answer to the question "How do you measure engagement?" They replied "We recently measured engagement by video taping peoples’ reactions as they were using a prototype that we built. ... Much like a lot of design, the idea that you can measure something and give it a number is false. It’s a qualitative measure of engagement and we’re perfectly okay with that."
