Colorado is home to more than 200 organizations and social ventures focusing on international development. Their work encompasses agriculture, community development, education, energy, health, infrastructure, and microfinance, among other fields. They share similar goals, such as designing or distributing products or services that improve the quality of life for the poorest people on the planet; They serve similar populations, targeting their operations not only at the same continents — Africa, Asia, and Latin America — but in some cases even at the same countries. And they confront similar administrative burdens and financial challenges. Yet most of these organizations have operated in isolation from one another. The Posner Center brings together 60+ development-oriented businesses and organizations in a 25,000 square-foot shared space in Denver’s Curtis Park neighborhood to enable them to exchange ideas, cut costs, and improve the products and services they deliver. Collaboration will spur innovation, boost distribution, and generate new, sustainable ventures. Over time, Colorado will become a top destination for talented entrepreneurs and development organizations.

Every neighborhood has history. In the Curtis Park neighborhood of Denver, on the corner of 33rd and Arapahoe, sits an unassuming brick façade–the Horse Barn.
Built in the late 1800s, the Denver Railway Company aimed to accommodate the growing fleets of horses, mules, and streetcars in the city. Although the demand for horsepower decreased in favor of a cable-driven transportation system, the Horse Barn was still in a prime location for downtown horse labor. Denver businessman George E. Turner started a moving and storage business while Colorado’s resource-extractive economy boomed and busted, and incorporated the Barn as a storage facility for horse-drawn carts and trailers in his fleet.
The Denver Housing Authority (DHA) eventually purchased the Horse Barn in 1992 as part of a community revitalization effort, and in recognizing its historic significance secured a Denver Landmark Preservation designation for the front façade.
Renovated and reopened in 2013, the Posner Center is now home to over 60 organizations who have become part of the history of the Horse Barn.
