The 2nd part of the 2026 Leadership at Every Level took place today. Technician Sean Roeper taught today on One on One Leadership sharing his 25 years of experience discussing being into the job, taking care of yourself, and being professional.

F.I.R.E. will continue with series with
Captain Mike Evans, Chief Scott Thompson (The Colony, TX), and Division Chief Dave Hageman, PhD in August, October, and November respectively.

F.I.R.E. is hosting the next Leadership At Every Level May 21st led by Technician Sean Roeper who will focus on One on One Leadership: Thoughts from the Backstep. Sean will draw on his experience over two and half decades in the fire service. Join us for a this class.

President Gino Abeita and Secretary Victor Calvo participated in Migrant Youth Leadership Institute Career Panel hosted at Metro State University on Saturday, April 4th.

They were able to participate in a panel of local area professionals and discuss career options available to youth in the community.

Just one of the many ways that F.I.R.E. and its members give back to the community we serve.

Dr. Robert Ginnett kicked off the 2026 F.I.R.E. Leadership at Every Level lecture series with an Introduction to Leadership. He covered a brief history of Leadership, and then covered important concepts Motivation and Interests, Values and Attitudes, along with the Z model of Decision Making. We’d like to thank all the attendees who took time to listen, learn and participate today. We’d also like to thank Dr. Robert Ginnett for sharing your time, energy and passion for leadership. Lastly we’d like to thank Denver Firefighters L858.

We will be hosting 4 other lectures this year, including Chief Scott Thompson, author of The Functional Fire Company on October 30th.

Four of our members along with hundreds of firefighters from across the country are currently attending a 40-hour Officer Development Course in Pensacola, FL, led by County Fire Tactics. This week, they will focus on Leadership and Personnel Development, Fireground Command Strategy, and Tactical Proficiency, with instruction from renowned Fire Service leaders Frank Viscuso, Anthony Avilo, Frank Leeb, Candace Ashby, Eddie Robinson, and Curt Isakson.

We extend our thanks to Olivia Covey, Kristy Yarbrough, Paul Hendrickson, and Mitchell Sprague for dedicating time to enhance their leadership skills within our organization and the DFD.
