Sometimes I find myself so far on the right side of my brain that the city looks like one giant spectrum from light and dark.

The release of 's first publication is a testament to how much the organization has accomplished over the past year. A street newspaper is so much more than a newspaper - it is an amalgamation of a community's response to a fragmented local continuum of care and a potential connective tissue to help re-knit it all together.
Thank you to community leaders like and supportive organizations like , , and , Albuquerque's local street newspaper is back - this time, with a deeper network, levels of trust, and avenues for connecting with our local unhoused community.
Beyond the limited support that I provided earlier this year in establishing some of the foundational elements of the street newspaper, I am looking forward to volunteering some of my time with the organization in 2026 to support the launch of their street vending program.
Great work to everyone involved!

I have had incredible mentorship ever since I first started working with the Albuquerque City Council Office back in 2015, and over the past 6 months I have had the opportunity to provide mentorship myself to our Council Intern, Khalil Raki. Here is a photo of Khalil and I, along with my supervisor and best mentor I have ever had, Tom Menicucci.
Today was Khalil's last day working for Council before moving to Cairo for the next year to continue his double major in International Studies and Political Science. After working with Khalil for the past 6 months, we have grown to become much more than just co-workers, but also great friends, pool hall buddies, and coffee shop connoisseurs - I am truly grateful for all the conversations and laughs that we have shared over the past 6 months.
I hope Khalil has learned as much from me as I have learned from him.

This past week, my dad brought his Tuk Tuk back to life. He had been searching for replacement parts over the past year that are only available on the other side of the world. So when he got it fired back up again and we started zipping through Socorro, the nostalgia of the both of us cruising through the streets of Bangkok came rushing back again.
