Today we send off our friend Andrew off on a berry grape new adventure!

For six years, Andrew was raisin 🍇 the bar for food access, first as a volunteer during the pandemic and then as our Food Access Coordinator. He's supported our partners in running hundreds of food drives, helped reopen our market after the pandemic, and welcomed and trained countless volunteers!

We're grateful for his cherry 🍒 attitude, his un-beet-able 🫜 dedication, and, yes, his corny 🌽 food puns.

People most impacted by an unjust and failing food system should be in positions to lead, shape, and drive community-centered programs that exist to meet their needs. We are recruiting 8 members for our new Food Access Steering Committee, composed of directly impacted community members and food producers.

In collaboration with Metro Caring staff, the committee will help guide and support the Food Access program’s major projects and decisions.

The role requires five 2-hour meetings that will take place over the course of 10 months. Committee members will be expected to attend each session, with virtual options as well as translation and interpretation provided to support participation.

Each member of the committee will be compensated.

A warm welcome to our new team member, Kat!

Kat joins us as our new Major Gifts Officer to connect passionate supporters to opportunities that advance our mission to end hunger at its root. Originally from Atlanta, Georgia, they moved to Denver in 2011 to complete a Master's degree in Literary Analysis at the University of Denver after spending a year traveling in New Zealand. They spent five years fundraising for the Iliff School of Theology and seven years of work in international education.

When they're not fundraising, Kat hangs out with their wife, Alli, and their cat, Harry, hikes, reads science fiction and fantasy novels, and plays tabletop games.
