Denver Sweet to Close Its Doors After Over Six Years Serving the Community
Denver, CO — July 21, 2025— After more than six incredible years as one of Denver’s favorite inclusive establishments, Denver Sweet located at 776 Lincoln Street, Denver will be closing its doors for good on Sunday, July 27th.
This was an incredibly difficult decision to make, but we believe the time has come. Creating and running Denver Sweet has been a dream come true for us — and saying goodbye is heartbreaking. From the very beginning, our goal was to build a space that welcomed everyone, celebrated diversity, and give the LGBTQ+ community and allies a place to gather, connect, and thrive.
Like many small businesses, we have faced serious challenges over the past few years. Business has not returned to pre-pandemic levels, and over the last two years, we’ve seen a significant decline in traffic. Changing customer habits, tough economic conditions, and increased operational costs have made it increasingly difficult to sustain the business.
One of the most significant impacts to our bottom line has been the rising cost of labor, particularly from living wage laws in both Colorado and Denver. We’ve done everything we could to push forward — including personally funding operations — but the current climate simply isn't viable for us anymore.
To our incredible team members, loyal customers, friends, and supporters: thank you for an amazing six years. You helped make Denver Sweet more than a bar — you made it a community.
We invite everyone to come out this week to celebrate with us — to toast to the future, share memories, and say goodbye in true Denver Sweet style.
