Cold War Patriots members are workers from the Manhattan Project, during the Cold War arsenal build-up and up to current workers who maintain the US nuclear deterrent. CWP connects nuclear and uranium workers and their families with information and resources to navigate complex government programs.

The Special Exposure Cohort Explained: A Guide for Workers 06/15/2026

You can be compensated for your work without undergoing radiation dose reconstruction.

If you are a nuclear weapons or uranium worker who worked at a certain plant for at least 250 days and have one of the 22 covered cancers under the Special Exposure Cohort (SEC), you qualify for compensation.

Profiles in Courage: Nuclear Complex & Uranium Worker Edition 05/28/2026

Cold War Patriots members demonstrated many forms of courage through their work in the nuclear weapons and uranium industries. For two men, that courage came at a high personal cost—resulting in serious illnesses linked to their time on the job.

Today, thanks to the benefits they earned, they receive the home care they need through Professional Case Management (PCM)

Men and women like Tom and Jason often worked in secrecy so America could develop the technologies and weapons believed necessary to keep the country safe. Their sacrifice deserves recognition, care, and support.

During , we recognize the nuclear weapons and uranium workers whose jobs placed them in contact with dangerous materials—often before the long-term health effects were fully understood.

Brain cancer is a condition covered under the Special Exposure Cohort (SEC). This classification applies to certain workers from designated facilities and assumes radiation exposure, making it possible to access medical care and compensation through EEOICPA without the need for radiation dose reconstruction.
