I had fun participating in this event--we worked with 145 people teaching hands-only CPR! People are always most surprised about how deep you need to press (about 2 inches). Remember to pick a song to do your compressions to (100-120 beats per minute)--there's a Spotify playlist of CPR songs to find your jam (I like the classic "Stayin' Alive!)!

South Metro Fire Rescue and our partner at the South Metro Safety Foundation joined our neighbors at the Highlands Ranch Ice Cream Social—a tradition that began in 1998 alongside the opening of Station 18. What started as a small celebration has grown into one of Highlands Ranch’s favorite summer gatherings, bringing the community together for live music, sweet treats, and connection. Our crews enjoyed meeting residents, showing off our fire engines, and sharing safety information. This year’s event also supported Douglas County Search and Rescue, helping them continue their lifesaving work. Thank you to the Highlands Ranch Metro District and all the partners who make this tradition possible. We all scream for ice cream!
