This week, we're honored to highlight Luis and share a meaningful moment from his journey at DCC.
"On Sunday we celebrated the beginning of Pride Month with SunGay- a focus on q***r representation at church. The singers, the pastor (Cassie Adams), and the Eucharist volunteers were all q***r. I don’t ever want to forget Cassie’s introduction into Eucharist, as it encapsulated how I was feeling as I supported in this area. Her voice carried a lot of emotion- even needing to pause- as she described how church spaces often exclude members of the LGBTQ+ community but that on this day, they were the ones leading. She then tied this message to describe that how Eucharist was meant for anyone and everyone. It was special being a part of something healing - for q***r folk and allies alike- as well as helping to create a more welcoming church environment so that the next generation and any new church members don’t go through what some of us have faced. It was such a blessing being a part of this day."
For Luis, being part of SunGay was more than serving, it was a healing experience. It was an opportunity to help create a space in church where q***r people, allies, and future generations can experience belonging, affirmation, and love without having to endure the exclusion that so many have faced.
Thank you, Luis, for sharing your story and for helping build a community where everyone can find a place to belong!

Throughout Pride Month, we’ll be sharing weekly spotlights featuring LGBTQIA+ members of our community and their stories of faith, belonging, and identity. This week, we’re honored to highlight Nico.
When asked about her experience as a q***r Christian, Nico shared:
“Being a gay Christian has been a journey, much like coming out itself. I spent years away from the church, wondering if there was a place where I could bring my whole self. Eventually, I found Denver Community Church, where I learned that I didn’t have to choose between my faith and who God created me to be.”
Thank you, Nico, for sharing your story and reminding us of the power of belonging, authenticity, and God's inclusive love.
ONLY GOD CAN DO IT!
From every blessing to every breakthrough, we’re celebrating God's goodness and dancing into a summer full of joy and community!

Last week, our Elders, Deacons, and Staff spent three days together for our EDS Retreat. During our time away, we shared meals, encouraged and affirmed one another, participated in spiritual formation sessions, laughed often, and built deeper connections as a team.
We are so grateful for this time of rest, renewal, and community, and for the opportunity to grow together in meaningful ways.

Today we got to pray over Joel Carlman, our Outreach Pastor and Director of Project Renew, as we send him off on his sabbatical.
For DCC, a sabbatical is a time for staff members to take a break from all responsibilities at DCC to pursue renewal through rest, soul care, reflection, professional education, recreation, deepening their spiritual life and strengthening their family relationships. The hope with every sabbatical is they will result in the staff member returning to their responsibilities with renewed focus and energy to fulfill God’s calling for the next season.
Please join us in prayer for Joel and his family as they embark on this season!
