I wasn't expecting this today, but all 8 girls showed up and did their job this morning Looks like everyone decided it was a productive day today.

What does it mean when your rooster walks up to you all sideways and starts circling around you?

At first it looked like aggression, so I picked him up and held him, and then he instantly turned into the sweetest little snuggle bug. But every time I sit down in the coop with them, he starts doing it again, and I can’t tell if he’s being cute, flirting, or secretly preparing to attack. 🤣

I’m stuck between thinking he’s just a sweet boy with big rooster confidence… or that I’m about to become his next target.

Woke up this morning and walked into the living room to find one of my girls peacefully napping on my couch like she owns the place 😂🐔 Guess she’s officially upgraded herself to indoor chicken status.

Every morning she breaks out of the yard, and every night she sneaks back in, walking the fence all slow and quiet like a teenager trying to get back in the house without getting caught 😂🐔 The drama is unreal.

They’re just as bad as dogs, I swear 😄 Always getting into trouble and then looking at you like they didn’t do a thing 😂🐾

The secret to getting around 200 large eggs a day! 🥚🐓

Our feed blend looks like this:
60 lbs cracked corn
15 lbs oats
15 lbs wheat
40 lbs black oil sunflower seeds
20 lbs BSFL

We offer about 4 scoops daily, along with oyster shell and a mix of Harvest Delight nuts and berries served in a small pig feeder. On top of that, they always have free-choice layer crumble available.

The girls are absolutely thriving on it and clearly enjoying every bit of it! 💛

Hubby and I are making progress on our new mailbox, and side one is officially finished. 📬✨

It’s still a work in progress, but I’m already loving the way it’s turning out. ❤️

Apparently Pearl had enough of the 100-degree heat and decided the pool was the place to be. ☀️💦 I walked outside and found her floating around like she belonged there.

And yes before anyone asks, she was immediately taken out. 🤷‍♀️

Since I let my girls roam the yard during the day, I’ve been trying to find ways to keep them safer—especially Cotton, who has basically no survival instincts. 🐔😅

I came up with this little setup to help deter hawks, so I’d love to hear what y’all think. 🦅🌿
