There's something timeless about a father and son in the same shirt!

Father's Day is approaching — a day to honor the dads and grandads who shaped our worlds. Rockmount began as Papa Jack's vision. He was our patriarch, a man of wisdom and character. Founded in 1946, this is our 80th Anniversary. Papa is known as the father of the western wear industry. A family business, his son, Jack B. joined him in 1954. This duo helped transform the West from a physical place into a state of mind across the country.

Steve joined them in the 1980s and helped bring Rockmount to the world. Now in 2026, Colter has joined the business - four generations deep, still bringing the West to the world in a new era.

Hand-stitched classics with a little bit of flair 🌵💥

Jorma Kaukonen, lead guitarist of Jefferson Airplane, landed at Rockmount. He is 85 and on the road, and in the air! His wife Vanessa and manager Phil Jacobs joined him. They played the Paramount Theater.

The world being a small place, Vanessa mentioned she had seen Rockmount at Watsonatta Western World in Boone, NC when they play a music festival over the years. So I called Darrel and Ellen Watson, who have carried Rockmount since 1970, to tell them about the visit. I am amazed that the Kaukonens connected the two of us given the long history and geographical remoteness.... Somehow this makes up for the massive disruption of retail due to the online bulldozers and over reach of chains. It’s nice that mom and pops have a place and the long term relationships survive.
