Denver Regional Council of Governments staff and elected officials welcomed two Utah metropolitan planning organizations on April 28 and 29 to learn about the local transportation infrastructure for the Boulder area. Representatives hailed from Wasatch Front Regional Council, which serves the Salt Lake City region, and Mountainland Association of Governments, which serves the Provo-Orem area. The 26 travelers experienced a packed two-day peer exchange that included a bicycle tour of Boulder's multimodal network, walking tours of north Boulder's emerging urban center and mixed-use development, and a visit to the Town of Superior to see its recovery after the Marshall Fire.
DRCOG Board members joined the event, including Boulder County Commissioner Claire Levy and Boulder City Council Member Nicole Speer, in addition to Boulder Mayor Pro Tem Tara Winer. Thanks to the staff from the City of Boulder and Town of Superior for the collaboration and partnership: Blythe Bailey, Stephen Rijo, Daniel Sheeter, Gerrit Slatter and Valerie Watson, Geoffrey Weathers, Ellen Robertson and Renae Stavros, as well as Hugh van Wagenen from Wasatch Front Regional Council.
