A little pick-me-up, with a side of truth ☕❤️

Most cardiac arrests don’t happen in hospitals.

They happen at work, at the gym, at a soccer game, or during a regular coffee run.

That’s why at HeartHero we’ve always believed AEDs should be designed for ordinary people, not just medical professionals.

Because when an emergency happens, the person closest to help is usually just someone going about their day.

Maybe even the person sitting at the table next to you 👀

You have enough weighing you down already. Your AED shouldn’t be one of them 🎈

Imagine being stranded on a deserted island 🏝️

No help nearby. No emergency responders around the corner. No AED within reach. 👀

While most of us aren’t actually stranded on an island, the reality is that many people live, work, hike, travel, or spend time in places where emergency help may be farther away than we’d like to think.

Being prepared isn’t about expecting the worst. It’s about understanding that help isn’t always as close as it seems.

That’s why having access to an AED can make all the difference.

Turns out…scissors really can kill people ✂️

Okay, not in a “watch out for the pointy end” kind of way. But during cardiac arrest, every second spent fumbling through layers trying to cut clothes off is a second without a lifesaving shock. And that’s the part that matters.

If scissors are nearby, great! Use them!

But if they aren’t, don’t waste valuable time trying to create the “perfect” setup

In many cases, it’s faster to lift the shirt and place the pads immediately. Because in cardiac arrest, speed matters more than people realize.

The faster a shock is delivered, the better the chance of survival⚡

Most people first hear the word “troponin” after they, or someone they love, ends up in the ER 🏥

And when a doctor says, “Your troponin is elevated,” it can sound terrifying.

So what is troponin?

Troponin is a protein found inside heart muscle cells. When the heart is injured, stressed, inflamed, or not getting enough oxygen, troponin can leak into the bloodstream. ❤️

That’s why doctors often check troponin when someone has:

• Chest pain
• Shortness of breath
• Fainting
• An abnormal EKG
• Symptoms concerning for a heart attack

But here’s the important part:

An elevated troponin does NOT always mean heart attack.

It simply tells doctors: “Something may be stressing the heart.”

Troponin can also rise from:

• Severe infection
• Heart failure
• Kidney disease
• Blood clots in the lungs
• Very fast heart rhythms
• Broken heart syndrome, also called Takotsubo cardiomyopathy💔 (And yes, broken heart syndrome is real)

Troponin is not a panic number. It’s a clue!🩺

Doctors use it alongside symptoms, EKGs, medical history, and other testing to figure out what’s really going on.

At HeartHero, we believe heart education should be simple enough for everyone to understand, because faster understanding can lead to faster action when every second matters⚡
