BELOVED COMMUNITY VILLAGE IS OPEN!!!

It is with deep gratitude and wonder that we announce the opening of Beloved Community Village -- Denver's first tiny home community for people coming out of houselessness -- after receiving our certificate of occupancy this morning.

This is a huge step for Denver and for people on the streets, and we're thrilled that these resilient villagers get to sleep inside tonight with house keys in their pockets instead of handcuffs on their wrists. They are leaders and human beings of the highest quality.

The villagers are working on a press release that will come out sometime next week. We are also planning a Grand Opening Celebration open to all in the next month. Details are forthcoming.

In the meantime, PLEASE RESPECT THAT THESE ARE PRIVATE HOMES. Do not drop in without a scheduled appointment. We are working to develop a tour schedule that works for the villagers.

REPORTERS: please wait until we put out our press release to seek comment from villagers. We will communicate with you soon. It's been a long road, and they have requested a chance to just breathe and be in their homes.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the building of this village, whether through your hard work during construction, your donations, your likes and shares, or your prayers. We love you and couldn't have done this alone!

We'll leave you with this quote* on Dr. King's vision of the Beloved Community that expresses the heart of what our village is about:

“The Beloved Community was for MLK a realistic, achievable goal that could be attained by a critical mass of people committed to and trained in the philosophy and methods of nonviolence. Dr. King’s Beloved Community is a global vision, in which all people can share in the wealth of the earth. In the Beloved Community, poverty, hunger and homelessness will not be tolerated because international standards of human decency will not allow it. Racism and all forms of discrimination, bigotry and prejudice will be replaced by an all-inclusive spirit of sisterhood and brotherhood. In the Beloved Community...love and trust will triumph over fear and hatred. Peace with justice will prevail over violence."

Denver jury convicts homeless man of trespassing on their yuppy lifestyle. DJ Razee’s tiny house idea was too big. 16/04/2016

By Eric Verlo NOT MY TRIBE - 3/02/2016 8:28PM MDT DENVER, COLORADO- In the witness stand Delbert “DJ” Razee spoke eloquently about the Tiny House movement and Resurrection Village, a local experiment sponsored by advocates Denver Homeless Out Loud to suggest one remedy for the house-less of Colorado. Razee’s lawyer Frank Ingham made fools of the Denver Housing Authority stooge and four police officers who testified against the chronically homeless English Lit grad. [ 1930 more words. ]

Help DJ Razee Remain Sheltered 16/04/2016

D.J., like many people in Denver, has been experiencing homelessness. He has been on the front lines of the fight, even going to jail during Denver Homeless Out Loud's heroic fight at Sustainability Park, where they attempted to set up Resurrection Village and had the tiny homes they had built confiscated. He has had his laptop, phone, wallet, and sleeping bag stolen, and as you may have heard, there is a BIG STORM coming this weekend! [ 38 more words. ]

Denver: Here's How You Can Help People Living Without Homes Right Now I grew up in a not-very-big house in Virginia Village where I shared a room with one of my siblings for most of my childhood. Even though we had pretty tight living quarters to begin with, my parents still opened our little home to anyone who needed it — throughout...
