The map shows the 1866 State Map of Louisiana overlaid with 790 ground control points surveyed by CompassData, Inc. from 2000 to 2023.

Louisiana became the 18th state on April 30, 1812. This map was created from public survey sketches by the Department of the Interior Land Office.

Pi Day is an annual celebration of the mathematical constant π. Pi Day is observed on March 14 since 3, 1, and 4 are the first three significant figures of π. It was founded in 1988 by Larry Shaw, an employee of the Exploratorium. Celebrations often involve eating pie or holding pi recitation competitions.

Pi is an important constant that has practical applications in science, engineering, technology, and surveying. Its precise value has been calculated to trillions of digits and continues to be studied and researched by mathematicians around the world.

MAPPS 2023 Puerto Rico was SUCCESS! Thank you MAPPS for hosting a great event. Hayden Howard and I enjoyed catching up with old friends and meeting new ones.
