AFS Colorado Rockies at the 2025 Denver Christkindlmarket! A visit on St. Nicolas Day was all we needed to get into the holiday spirit. From food & entertainment in the Festival Hall to perusing the huts for gift shopping and even more delicious food, the Christkindlmarket experience was all the fun we needed to get into the festive mood of the season.

No one parties quite like AFS Colorado Rockies! This year, we had an awesome time at our annual holiday party eating, decorating ornaments, exchanging gifts and just having a great experience hanging out with each other to celebrate the holidays!

Colorado Gives Day is tomorrow, 12/9!

Colorado Gives Day is a powerful time to make a donation to AFS Colorado Rockies. Every dollar raised is boosted by a state-wide, $1 Million Dollar Incentive Fund until tomorrow (12/9) at 11:59pm.

All donations made online now through December 9 at 11:59pm count toward Colorado Gives Day and the $1 million+ Incentive Fund.

Many of our study abroad students would not be able to have an exchange experience due to financial barriers. We rely on the generous support of our donors to offer scholarships to high school students so they can experience the world through international exchange. Join us at the AFS Colorado Rockies Annual Holiday Party!

AFS Colorado at the Colorado Congress for Foreign Language Teaching(CCFLT) Conference: Our amazing and engaging AFS Colorado volunteers and AFS-USA staff helped sponsor and present at the annual CCFLT conference this fall, creating connections and building relationships to plant the seeds for future collaborations between mutually aligned organizations. We shared our message of creating peace and global understanding through international student exchange with a focus on how language acquisition can enhance the experience and create opportunities that last a lifetime.

In 2025, the AFS Colorado Rockies team introduced a new Scholarship with 3 terrific recipients from Manuel HS in Denver. Two participated in the Summer Global Prep in Kenya Program and one in the Summer Global Prep in Colombia Program. For 2026, we will be awarding Scholarships to 5 students from metro-Denver, funded in part by generous donations via Colorado Gives!

Fright Fest at Elitch Gardens - an AFS Colorado Halloween tradition! This year our hosted students joined some of our study abroad returnees and applicants, along with friends and host families, for a wickedly scary adventure at Denver’s best amusement park!

AFS Colorado Rockies Post-Arrival Orientation at Ponderosa Camp - our last international student arrived just in time to meet up with the whole group and our amazing volunteers. Time to get to know each other and try out our beautiful Colorado outdoors!

Another one of our international students has arrived in Colorado - our 2025/26 team is almost complete! Welcome Islem - we are all excited to meet you and get to know you better. What’s also exciting is that Islem is a YES participant. U.S. Department of State Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES) program students are highly motivated young people from across the globe who have been through a highly competitive process to obtain these coveted scholarships.
