Shout out to Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood for the “Grownups Come Back” song… in our case, Mamas! 🩷

We started a new daycare this week, and this song has been such a helpful reminder for my daughter that mama will always come back. She’s been singing it all week. 🥹

We’re in the stage where separation anxiety is in full force, and songs like these can help ease some of that anxiety while reinforcing a secure, positive attachment. Music gives children a simple, comforting message they can hold onto when big feelings show up. 🎶

Have you used the “Grownups Come Back” song with your little one?

Welcome to the team Mowgli! We are so excited to have Mowgli join the Nurtured Notes team as another exceptional music therapist! You may have seen them already jumping in and leading groups. Mowgli is available for music therapy sessions and will also be leading music classes. We can’t wait for you to meet Mowgli and make music with them! 🎶

Another ocean themed song featuring the ocean drum! 🌊 One of my favorite instruments. This can be used in so many ways and with many different ages!

I learned this from Harmony with Bethany - who said she learned it from a music therapist!

How fun is this octopus song by Tyler Wray | Music • Motherhood • Education 🐙

I adapted it and added colorful ribbons to pretend they are an octopus swimming in the sea 🌊

This is great for 0-5 age group! Many skills can be addressed here- visual tracking of the ribbons, peak a boo, opposites like fast/slow, crossing midline, imitation, and language

You can also do this with your hands and practice counting to 8! 🐙

Hi, I’m Nicole, a board-certified music therapist, music educator, and the founder of Nurtured Notes! 🎵

I’m passionate about creating meaningful opportunities for children and families to grow, connect, and experience joy through music. Through music therapy, early childhood classes, and preschool enrichment programs, I love helping little ones learn and thrive in ways that feel playful, engaging, and developmentally appropriate.

I’m also a mom, which has deepened my appreciation for the power of music in everyday moments. I’m so glad you’re here, and I can’t wait to make music with you! 🩷🎶

I met Jamie in a moms group when our daughters were born the same month at the same hospital. Her daughter started at a daycare where I teach music classes.

For the past year, I’ve had the joy of watching her grow, explore, and fall in love with music. Receiving messages like these is such a meaningful reminder of why I do what I do.

At Nurtured Notes, our goal is always to create opportunities for meaningful growth and connection through music. Getting to hear how that carries over into a child’s everyday life is the greatest gift. ❤️

Another fun song in our ocean unit 🌊We’re climbing onto our pirate ships 🏴‍☠️ for a fun movement song! Added bonus- we’re practicing counting 1-5 in this song as well.

Song: Over The Deep Blue Sea by Susan Salidor. I’ve adapted in a little bit as I do with most songs!

This song can be used and adapted for so many ages! I’ve also used this in parent child classes as a lap movement song- having adults rock back and forth snd forward and backwards with their littles.

An easy way to work on stop and go with littles! We used egg shakers during this. But you can also add movements like clap, stomp, bounce. Such a simple concept that can be modified to meet many needs! 🎶

Original song idea: Shake and Stop by Lynn Kleiner but I changed the melody and words a bit

My favorite hello song with littles: Say Hello by Stephanie Leavell
Additional lyrics which I’ve changed a bit from the original: wave hello with our hands & stomp hello with our feet. I also add in names if it’s a small group. The original version has a fun “boogie break” in it, which typically I skip, but is a fun dance break!!

We start every class with a hello song to signify the start of class and create routine! 🎶

Using castanets to the song adaptation of Under The Sea by Rachel Rambach!

Castanets are a great instrument to explore for fine motor skills and musical exploration. There are so many ways to play and explore!

Also- always learning to play the guitar with a little one on my lap 😂 it’s the biggest compliment when a child feels comfortable enough to come sit with me during music! 🫶

Ocean month is off to a great start 🌊🐠
