Today, on Holocaust Survivor Day, we remember and honor the courage, resilience and legacy of Holocaust survivors. Their stories are powerful reminders of the importance of preserving truth, memory and dignity.

Investing in Holocaust education is increasingly important. This year, the University of Denver announced a campaign to endow the nation's first Professorship in Holocaust and Antisemitism Studies, a landmark commitment that will advance education, scholarship and public understanding for generations to come.

We remember the past, honor Holocaust survivors, and remain committed to building a future free from antisemitism, hatred and discrimination.

Today marks one year since the attack on the Boulder Run for Their Lives gathering, a peaceful walk on Pearl Street held in solidarity with the hostages taken from Israel on October 7, 2023.

We remember Karen Diamond, may her memory be a blessing. We also honor the survivors and all those whose lives were forever changed by this act of violence.

As we reflect on this difficult anniversary, we hold space for continued healing and remain inspired in our work by the resilience, compassion and strength demonstrated by the Boulder Jewish community.

Rose Community Foundation and Jewish Family Service of Colorado (JFS) have long been partners in supporting Greater Denver’s Jewish community, as well as the region’s community at large.

At the Weinberg Food Pantry, that commitment comes to life. Through a choice-based shopping model, individuals and families can access nutritious food, hygiene items and essentials in a way that honors their dignity and unique needs.

The pantry is often the first connection to JFS’s broader network of support services. As JFS President and CEO Linda Foster shares, “When someone comes to us and says they need food, we know we need to address that need right away — but almost always they have other needs as well. And we’re here to take that integrated approach.”

Together, we're meeting immediate needs while building pathways to stability, connection and wellbeing across our community.💜

Rose Youth Foundation is a giving circle for Jewish high school students, empowering teens with the tools of strategic philanthropy to make a difference in Greater Denver. This year’s cohort focused its grantmaking on expanding access to mental health and integrated care services for unhoused youth in Greater Denver.

Congratulations to this group of teens and to the grantees making this work possible: TGTHR to end youth homelessness | The Gathering Place | Urban Peak 👏

Rose Youth Foundation is just one of the giving circles at Rose Community Foundation, where we work to build a culture of generosity through collaborative philanthropy. Giving circles bring people together around shared values, interests and opportunities to create meaningful local impact.

May is Jewish American Heritage Month — a time to celebrate the diversity of American Jewish life and the many contributions Jewish communities have made across the country.

Rose Community Foundation’s roots trace back to the late 1940s, when Jewish doctors returning from World War II could not find employment in Denver due to antisemitism and discrimination. The community came together to build General Rose Memorial Hospital, and when Rose Medical Center was sold in 1995, the proceeds formed Rose Community Foundation.

Since then, the Foundation has remained committed to supporting Greater Denver’s vibrant Jewish community. The Foundation continues this work by investing in initiatives that celebrate Jewish life, strengthen Jewish organizations and respond to the evolving needs of the community.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month 💚.

Strong communities are built on care, connection and compassion. Mental health is an essential part of overall well-being and yet, many people face barriers to the support they need.

We honor our partners, advocates and individuals working every day to expand access to mental health care, reduce stigma and ensure that no one has to navigate challenges alone. We’re proud to support efforts across our community that prioritize mental wellness, from culturally responsive care to programs that meet people where they are.

Let this month be a reminder to continue to listen, learn and show up for one another.
