We are very sorry to learn of the passing of Ron Montoya, a beloved business and civic leader whose legacy is synonymous with family, community and generosity. Ron's fingerprints are on so many initiatives and organizations, including Rose Community Foundation where he served for a decade on our board of trustees from 2006-2015 and celebrated our 30th anniversary with us in 2025. May his memory be a blessing for his family and friends and his legacy an inspiration to our community for generations to come.

August 1 marks Colorado Day, celebrating 150 years of statehood. As the recent statewide survey by the Colorado Polling Institute found, Coloradans are proud to call the Centennial State home. From our breathtaking landscapes to our rich history, vibrant culture and strong communities, there's so much to celebrate.🏔️

While Colorado's 150th anniversary has been marked with events throughout the year — including the CO150 Film Festival with screenings statewide through November — there are still plenty of ways to join the celebration this weekend:

🎉 Homegrown Colorado – July 31| Enjoy a night market at Civic Center Park.

🥞 Community Fest – August 1| Celebrate with History Colorado at this free festival featuring a pancake breakfast, live music, street festival and an art market.

⚾ Colorado Rockies Game – August 1 | Cheer on the Rockies and stick around for a special Colorado 150 drone show after the game.

🎨 Denver Art Museum – August 1 | Enjoy free admission and browse the Colorado Day Art Market.

The anniversary also coincides with Denver Days, happening July 31–August 9, with neighborhood events taking place across the city. Check out the full lineup of Denver Days events at https://denvergov.org/Community/Neighborhoods/Denver-Days .

Rose Community Foundation is proud to support the Colorado Polling Institute's statewide survey marking the state's 150th anniversary. We invested in this research because understanding the experiences, aspirations and concerns of Coloradans is essential to building stronger communities and informing effective philanthropy.

Questions explored opinions on topics including affordability, trust in institutions and what makes Coloradans most proud (hint: our majestic Rocky Mountain landscapes!). The findings underscore the importance of belonging, connection and civic engagement: when people feel heard, they build stronger ties to their communities and greater confidence that they can help shape their future.

Encouragingly, more Coloradans surveyed said they believe there is more that unites us than divides us - a hopeful reminder of what we can accomplish together.

As wildfires continue to impact communities across Colorado and firefighters work tirelessly to contain them, local nonprofits and community organizations are on the ground providing emergency assistance, shelter, animal care and long-term recovery support.

If you're looking for a way to help, there are several community-based (or locally based) organizations supporting Coloradans affected by the largest current wildfires.
