At First Descents, we remain committed to fostering a community where mental health is prioritized, stigma is dismantled, and support is available. It’s been over a year since our beloved, former CEO Ryan “Wolf” O’Donoghue took his own life. This spring, researchers at Boston University CTE uncovered important findings about his brain health, diagnosing him with stage 3 chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), an incurable degenerative disease that greatly impacts mood and memory.

Jason Blevins, a journalist at The Colorado Sun, wrote a compassionate and thoughtful article about Ryan’s CTE diagnosis. Read it at https://bit.ly/4vmmMo2.

If you are struggling, please know you are not alone. We heal in connections, not isolation. We encourage you to reach out to someone you trust, make time for rest, or connect with a mental health professional. If you or someone you care about is experiencing a mental health crisis or needs immediate support, call or text 988 to connect with a trained counselor 24/7.
