✨The Taualuga ✨

Taualuga in Samoan means the last stage of building a house in which the last piece is secured to The Fale (house). Traditionally, this dance is performed by the son or daughter of a chief to signify a blessing upon an ending by adding the final beautiful touches. The traditional dress worn is made of ‘ie toga, a finely woven mat, prized feathers of the sega, a parrot found on Fiji and Samoa, and doused in coconut oil for cosmetic shine.

This moment in my cousins wedding truly felt like a full circle moment for me. I remember being the one to perform at my own celebrations and here I was capturing my baby cousin perform for our cousin, Vaimaa and his bride Oriana, because this is what I get paid to do now 🥹 it truly felt so emotional and so deeply rooted in my spirituality. Nothing moves me quite as much as my cultures. There’s so much history and love that we carry within our blood. So many have paved the way for us to be able to stand where we are now and I proudly wear that with honor 🇦🇸🇼🇸

Also, let’s take a moment to appreciate how beautiful my baby cousin Hadassah is 🥹 AND LOOK AT MY DAD YALL 😭🤍 he’s the old man towards the end lmao
