When God Says No
There was a time when my answer from God was both painful and merciful.
After our daughter was thirteen months old, I had an ectopic pregnancy. My tube ruptured, and I was bleeding internally. The pain was overwhelming. I prayed—not knowing if I would live. I wanted to raise my daughter. I wanted the baby I was losing. I wanted the pain to stop.
God said no to saving the baby I lost.
And that no broke my heart.
But God also said yes to my life.
When God says no, it doesn’t mean He isn’t listening. It doesn’t mean He isn’t good. Sometimes His no is wrapped in grief, while His yes is quietly preserving life, purpose, and a future we can’t yet see.
I carry loss and gratitude in the same heart. And I’ve learned this: trusting God isn’t about getting the answer we want—it’s about believing He is still faithful, even when His answer hurts.

When I was in high school, we had an old station wagon that wouldn’t start unless all four of us girls got out and pushed. It wasn’t easy, but it always got us where we needed to go.
That old car reminds me that before we face fear, we often have to push a little—steady our mind, calm our emotions, and strengthen our spirit. Effort doesn’t mean God isn’t with us. It means He’s leading us forward.

God has already gone ahead of you. Take the next step. Don’t be afraid.
