So, they discovered a radio signal from a galaxy that they believe existed when the universe was "only" 4.9 billion years old. One of the most critical aspects of common sense gun control is the prohibition of assault weapons. What does it say when law enforcement refuses to enforce such a ban? It kind of says we're screwed.
Illinois banned assault weapons after a deadly mass shooting in the state. Now, some local sheriffs are refusing to enforce the law. LaSalle County, Ill. Sheriff Adam C. Diss argued that the legislation "is a clear violation of the 2nd Amendment to the US Constitution."

The parents of the young gunmen who killed four students at Oxford High School in Oxford, Michigan are charged with involuntary manslaughter with their trial set to begin on Jan. 17. But now, the Michigan Supreme Court has intervened and delayed the proceedings indefinitely. What will this mean to the case against their son? We may find out soon.

The frequency of mass shootings in America should shock us all to the core. But it would seem that we are becoming desensitized to these horrific tragedies because they are so commonplace these days. We cannot let that happen.
