TYBPP - CO

TYBPP has decided to utilize the funds provided by the community to distribute care-packages to our homeless population here in Colorado. As of 2023 (per "Colorado Coalition"), Black Coloradans are more than 3x overrepresented in the homeless population compared to the general population (2.8% vs .2%). We did this once before and updated our packages to reflect the requests of folks we spoke to on the streets.

We will be handing these supplies out May 19th, roughly 7pm. If anyone would like to come out and talk to us before the group disbands (you'll still see us around for years to come, just likely on an individual level), please feel free to engage, help out, and share if possible. ✊🏽

hello all! we apologize for the lack of updates, we hope the following post will explain our absence as well as outline future steps for the party.

a couple days before out last post in January, the folks coordinating TYBPP Colorado Chapter were dismissed/dropped by the original Michigan Chapter without much explanation or discussion. we still ran the clothing drive with our own out-of-pocket funds. since January, we've individually struggled with homelessness, illness, and other issues in our personal lives, so we havent been able to engage with our community as much as we would've loved to.

for the folks out there down with our cause, who've supported the party financially, we're so thankful!!! the funds from our bake sales in the past were meant to be utilized for our free Tech Program and an eventual club-house location (in order to have a free library, a space for discussion/events, and for a free Breakfast Program). we were originally unable to retrieve access to the GoFundMe account through one of our old members, so we were able to request a full refund from GoFundMe Co. directly (took a couple months, though).

we've discussed rebranding and continuing our work once the main duo are back on our feet, but we haven't had a lot of engagement/volunteer interest. as such, we wanted to open up to the public to dicuss how to distribute the money provided by the people for our programs, back into the community? where would you like to see your support provided? please comment, share, discuss, DM, however you prefer! :)
