Fifteen years in, you've watched plenty of projects sit in limbo waiting on a decision nobody wanted to own.

Our client is advancing a major mining project and needs an Engineering Manager who's carried real responsibility across multiple phases before, someone who knows where things typically get stuck and has the credibility to push through it.

You'll lead infrastructure planning (water, power, heavy civil), work closely with the VP of Studies & Development and the Environmental Manager, and take responsibility for closing the engineering gaps that create delays.
What it takes:

→ 15+ years in mining, surface ops, or related engineering

→ Full project lifecycle exposure, prefeasibility through operations

→ Strong utilities infrastructure background (water/power in remote settings)

→ A practical, get-it-done mindset
Compensation: $180K–$220K, commensurate with experience.

If you've carried a project through multiple phases and know how to de-bottleneck one, let's talk.

Managing environmental compliance on a high-profile mining project takes more than technical knowledge. It takes someone who can lead under scrutiny, navigate complexity, and keep teams aligned when the stakes are high.

Our client, a copper and nickel joint venture in the Upper Midwest, is looking for an Environmental & Permitting Principal to lead environmental operations for a project as it moves into active construction preparation. You’ll oversee permitting, compliance, consultant coordination, regulatory engagement, and environmental systems across one of the region’s most closely watched mining projects.

Air permitting expertise is especially important here. This role owns the air compliance program and the internal systems that support it, from SOP development and compliance tracking to audit preparation and regulatory response coordination. You’ll also lead and mentor the environmental team, helping maintain strong environmental stewardship as the project evolves.

This isn’t a support position. You’ll be the person driving the program forward, working directly with regulators, leadership, consultants, and project stakeholders to keep a complex operation moving responsibly and compliantly.

If you’re ready to take ownership of a meaningful environmental leadership role with real impact, apply now: https://mrcrecruiting.com/jobs-detail/?slug=17810420671880083986rAI&ver=c2ba48b85d30f8f36730331b6fa8b959

Moving a greenfield mining project from concept into prefeasibility takes someone who can balance technical depth with coordination across a lot of moving parts.

Our client, a copper and nickel joint venture in northern Minnesota, is looking for a Study Manager to lead multidisciplinary technical studies on a high-potential deposit moving into its next stage of development. You’ll bring together mining, process, infrastructure, environmental, geotechnical, and hydrogeological workstreams while guiding study ex*****on, risk management, scheduling, and reporting.

This role sits at the center of the project. You’ll work closely with internal leadership, JV partners, consultants, and stakeholders, helping shape how the study program moves forward and setting the foundation for future project ex*****on. The right person brings strong technical study experience, understands the realities of early-stage project development, and knows how to keep teams aligned when priorities compete.

If you’re looking for the chance to take ownership of a meaningful study program with real long-term potential, apply now: https://mrcrecruiting.com/jobs-detail/?slug=17810425435660083986RAt&ver=5f62b7dd50d92f7f33685e570a333942

A lot of people say mining has a talent pipeline problem.

I think part of the issue starts earlier than that ... we ask students and early career professionals to consider an industry we haven’t explained very well.

Not the investor version or the internal version, but the real version.

What the work actually looks like.
Why it matters.
Where they could fit, even if they’re not studying mining engineering.

If someone’s only picture of mining is outdated, dangerous, or disconnected from the products they use every day, of course they’re not going to raise their hand.

That matters on site, in plants, in technical teams, in leadership pipelines. We’re not just competing for mining talent. We’re competing for attention, understanding, and belief that this is work worth building a career around.

That came up in my conversation with Rau , and I appreciated how directly he talked about it. Especially the idea that once people actually get exposed to the industry, a lot of them do get interested ... but they have to be shown the door first.

If you’re in mining and wondering why the next generation isn’t flooding in, this is part of the conversation.

Careers rarely start where you expect them to, and Curtis Johnson’s story proves it.

In Episode 45 of Ore-atory, I sit down with Curtis of Scout Discoveries to talk about exploration geology, unexpected pivots, and the lessons you can’t plan for.

But this isn’t a conversation about titles, resumes, or checklists.

It’s about curiosity, resilience, and the small decisions that shape a career over time.

We talk about:

How growing up in the outdoors led Curtis to a field he knew nothing about at first
The twists and turns that pushed him to switch paths and discover what truly excited him
Why exploration is as much about observation, patience, and problem-solving as it is about rocks
The value of mentors, relationships, and trusting instincts in an unpredictable field
And how staying curious and adaptable keeps you moving forward, even when the next step isn’t obvious

Whether you’re navigating a career change, leading a team, or figuring out your next move, there’s insight here.

Leading a major mining project through feasibility, sanction, and construction takes more than technical oversight. It takes someone who can align stakeholders, manage complexity, and keep momentum moving when the pressure is high.

Our client is advancing one of the most significant undeveloped mining projects in the country, and they’re looking for a Project Director to lead the full picture. From governance frameworks and capital milestones to EPCM oversight and JV partner alignment, this role sits at the center of a high-impact project with national strategic importance.

This is a leadership role in every sense of the word. You’ll work directly with executive leadership and the Board of Managers, guiding multidisciplinary teams through critical project phases while balancing cost, schedule, scope, and long-term ex*****on strategy. The right person brings deep experience leading large capital mining projects and knows how to navigate complex, multi-stakeholder environments with clarity and conviction.

If you’re ready to help shape a project that could play a major role in the future of domestic critical minerals supply, apply now: https://mrcrecruiting.com/jobs-detail/?slug=17810232517320101802Jpb&ver=1586c1ff0bdceb27cadb22e03a051697

Scaling a processing technology from pilot to full commercial deployment takes someone who can see both the details and the big picture.

Our client is advancing next-generation mineral processing systems, and they need a Lead Process Development Engineer to optimize, evolve, and implement these technologies across operating sites. You’ll lead hands-on trials, pilot programs, and commercial plant testing, troubleshoot process challenges, and help shape the future direction of breakthrough mineral processing.

This isn’t a desk job. You’ll work directly with operations, EPC partners, and engineering teams, integrating advanced technologies like high-pressure slurry ablation into real-world plants. The right person has a strong process engineering background, hands-on experience with minerals processing, and is ready to travel and take ownership of complex projects.

If you’re ready to influence the technical roadmap of transformative processing systems and see your work make real impact, apply now: https://mrcrecruiting.com/jobs-detail/?slug=17555389766310083986ocp&ver=0eafce5ff476b4fcc0e21263c5a64041
