Max Hass is a multi-instrumentalist and fully immersed in the music business - when he’s not playing bass (or buying more basses), he’s working as an entertainment lawyer and booking agent for a roster of Denver- and New Orleans-based bands. Originally from upstate NY, Max spent 7 years living in New Orleans and absorbing the city’s funky, soulful culture while getting his start in the music industry. After moving to Colorado in 2019, he has been actively integrating himself into the local music scene. He currently also plays with Britt Devens, Dzirae Gold, and at Open Heavens Church, a Ghanaian-American congregation, every Sunday. Max Palzewicz, or more colloquially known as Max on Sax, has been playing saxophone for over twenty years. Are you in a band?” The answer to the former has always been clear, but up until now, the answer to the latter has been a more opaque, “Well, you see, I kind of work with a lot of bands and sit in here and there.” Now, the answer to that question is an enthusiastic ‘Yes!’ and our name is Half Maxx. As one quarter of Half Maxx, Max brings a soulful, R&B sound to the saxophone, encouraging the rest of the band to play the music that they were made to. Joe Gallo is a guitarist, composer, instructor, and music theory nerd. With 15 years of experience on the guitar, he’s studied classical, jazz, rock, funk and metal, fusing his favorite techniques from each. The result is an eclectic, strat-centric sound at times mellow and rounded, or frenetic and emotive. Denver jam sessions have led Joe to collaborations with vastly different and unique groups, and he is currently a member of Jason Brandt and the Build Out, Dzirae Gold, and other bands. Teo Vanovski is a drummer, songwriter, and educator who cut his teeth on the NYC music scene for the last 8 years before moving back to CO. He has a performance and recording career that spans a multitude of genres from rock, pop, soul, americana, country, fusion, jazz, to off broadway and TV jingles. His experience has led him to “chameleonize” his sound to whatever is needed, but can also channel his inner groove/americana based signature sound. In Half Maxx there are no boundaries, and he’s free to pull from his many influences and connect with the other musician’s fiery solos and melodies.
