The horrible gang r**e in New Delhi, followed by the death of the victim 2 days ago is dominating the world headlines on New Year's eve. Many festivities in India have been called off. Maybe this country is heading into a new era and making some substantial changes to its shameful women's rights situation?

India's sobering New Year's eve On December 16th a 23-year old student was gang r**ed by six men in New Delhi. She died from her injuries in a hospital in Singapore in December 29th. All six men have been arrested and charged with murder. The name of the victim has not been released yet.

The clerical leader Chamenei has been complaining about their slow population growth and would like it to go from 75 million (currently) to somewhere between 150-200 million. These news sadden and frustrate us. There is no cultural excuse for this war on women. Let's not look the other way but tell them how we feel. This is sanctioned by the government. Therefore: shame on you Mr. Ahmadinejad for letting this happen!
