AMIGA-Ann Manganaro Initiative for Guatemalan Accompaniment 04/07/2026

Regis has a 48 hour online giving campaign. As most of my Facebook friends know, Guatemala is near and dear to me. For 15 years I have had the honor of volunteering in Guate every spring. I get to do this work with some of the most incredible people I have ever known. The clinic we support has become a teaching site for the local medical school. The clinic serves a community of marginalized indigenous Maya who live off the local landfill. In order to make our work there sustainable, we are beginning an endowment this year that will ultimately support the salary for local Guatemalan healthcare workers to provide ongoing care to the community. Please consider donating this week if you are able.

A sewing group called “Sew Many Blessings” has donated 60 some hand sewn bags full of cloth diaper covers, layettes, blankets, wash cloths and jackets for us to bring down to Guatemala for the new babies. Having done this work in Guatemala for 15 years, one of the things that I have seen over and over again is that people want to help others. And we all have gifts to share. I am so grateful our web continues to spread and help people find their own outlets.
