The Sky Theater Planetarium is in the Environmental Sciences Building on the University of North Texas campus in Denton, TX. This unique 100 seat, 40-foot domed theater features a 360° full dome Digistar projection system integrated with a 5.1 surround sound that brings visitors stunning view

PUBLIC SHOW INFORMATION
Our public show times and shows can be found posted here and on the Now Showing page of our website. Our shows change each month, so make sure to check back for updates. WHAT TO EXPECT: Each of our Public Shows feature both the scheduled show and a Sky Tonight Presentation. During the Sky Tonight Presentation your host will show you how to find constellations, planets, and other interesting celestial objects you can find in the sky that evening. All shows last about 50 minutes in total. TICKETING & ADMISSION: May be purchased in advance online or at our Box Office that opens 20 minutes before each show time. Ticket sales and online validation close 5 minutes after show time. Late admission is not permitted, so plan on arriving a little early. The Box Office and the Planetarium are in the far North-East corner of the building, down the hallway with The John D. Hooser Memorial Exhibit and video wall. All ticket prices are listed on the Now Showing page of our website. Tickets should only be purchased through eTix and no other 3rd parties. PARKING: Please note that if you park in the FS-11 Lot next to the building there is a fee but you can also park for free on the shoulders of Hickory St or Oak St next to the building. Parking is by the University Transportation Services. All information for Sky Theater parking can be found on the Parking and Directions page of our website. PRIVATE SHOW RESERVATIONS
Sky Theater also offers Private Show Reservations for field trips, home schools, birthdays, scout troops, business retreats, creative dates, wedding proposals, and more. Private shows include a show chosen from our Show Library and a Sky Tonight Presentation from your host. More information on Private Show Reservations can be found on our website.

Astronomy Picture of the Day!

The SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket, visible on the upper left, launched only about one minute before this amazing image was captured. As it rose to low Earth orbit from Cape Canaveral, Florida, USA, in late May, the rocket became supersonic before it crossed the disk of the distant Sun -- from the perspective of the well-placed photographer.

Astronomy Picture of the Day!

This sharp image is a combination of deep images taken in light emitted by hydrogen (red) and oxygen (blue). The star in the center is expected to explode in a spectacular supernova sometime within the next few thousand years.

Astronomy Picture of the Day!

Telescopic views of Saturn and its beautiful rings often make it the star of star parties. This image of Saturn's slender sunlit crescent with the planet's night shadow cast across its broad and complex ring system was captured by the robot spacecraft Cassini.
