Today we celebrate Flag Day, honoring the symbol that has represented our nation through generations of challenge, growth, sacrifice, and achievement.
The American flag tells the story of our country and the people who have helped shape it. It reminds us of the freedoms we enjoy, the responsibilities we share, and the communities that make America strong.
Here in Luna County, we are proud of the volunteers, families, businesses, and community members who work every day to make our corner of America a beautiful place to live, work, and visit.
As we prepare to celebrate America's 250th Anniversary, Flag Day serves as a reminder that every generation plays a role in caring for and improving the places we call home.

Thank You for an Amazing Grant Year!
As another Keep Luna County Beautiful grant season comes to a close, we want to take a moment to thank every volunteer, student, youth group, family, business, partner organization, and community member who helped make this year such a success.
Together, we cleaned roadways, removed litter, tackled graffiti, improved public spaces, and showed what can happen when a community works toward a common goal.
From first-time volunteers to longtime supporters, every bag of litter collected and every hour donated helped make Luna County a cleaner, safer, and more beautiful place to live, work, and visit.
While our current grant year has ended, our mission continues. We look forward to launching new projects, cleanup opportunities, beautification efforts, and community events when the next grant cycle begins.
Until then, thank you for helping us make a difference throughout Luna County. The impact you've made can be seen across our community, and we couldn't do it without you.
We can't wait to see what we accomplish together next!

Make Life Beautiful Day
Today is Make Life Beautiful Day, a reminder that even the smallest actions can make a big difference in the world around us.
At Keep Luna County Beautiful, we see it every day—volunteers picking up litter, students removing graffiti, families participating in cleanups, community members planting flowers, and neighbors taking pride in the places they call home.
Making life beautiful isn't about grand gestures. It's about choosing to care. It's about taking a moment to help your community, protect our environment, and inspire others through your actions.
Every bag of litter collected, every beautification project completed, and every volunteer who gives their time helps make Luna County a more beautiful place to live, work, and visit.
Today, we want to thank you. Your support, dedication, and willingness to get involved are what make this community special.
How will you make life beautiful today?

The cleanup season may be over, but keeping Luna County beautiful never takes a summer vacation!
Just because our organized cleanup events have wrapped up for the season doesn't mean the work has to stop. Summer is a great time to grab a trash bag, gather your family, friends, neighbors, church group, youth organization, or coworkers, and make a difference in your community.
A small cleanup can have a big impact. Whether it's your neighborhood, a local park, a roadway, or an area that needs a little extra attention, every piece of litter removed helps keep Luna County beautiful.
Need help getting started?
Keep Luna County Beautiful can help provide:
Safety vests

World Oceans Day
On World Oceans Day, we celebrate the beauty, diversity, and importance of our oceans. Covering more than 70% of the Earth's surface, our oceans provide food, produce much of the oxygen we breathe, support wildlife, and help regulate our climate.
While Luna County may be far from the coast, our actions still matter. Every piece of litter that is properly disposed of, every item recycled, and every effort to reduce waste helps protect waterways that eventually connect to larger ecosystems around the world.
Keeping our community clean isn't just about beautification—it's about protecting the environment for future generations.
Today, we encourage everyone to take one small action for the planet:
Recycle when possible
Dispose of waste properly
Reduce single-use plastics
Leave natural spaces cleaner than you found them
Together, even communities far from the ocean can make a difference.
Happy World Oceans Day from Keep Luna County Beautiful!

Happy World Environment Day!
World Environment Day reminds us that protecting our environment isn't just about one day—it's about the choices we make every day.
Here in Luna County, our desert landscape is more than just scenery. It is home to wildlife, agriculture, outdoor recreation, and the communities we call home. Every piece of litter picked up, every illegal dump site cleaned, every tire recycled, and every volunteer hour donated helps protect this place for future generations.
At Keep Luna County Beautiful, we are proud to work alongside residents, volunteers, businesses, schools, and community partners who believe that small actions can make a big difference.
Today, we encourage everyone to take one simple action for the environment:
Pick up litter in your neighborhood
Reduce waste by reusing and recycling
Plant something that supports local wildlife
Participate in a community cleanup
Encourage others to take pride in our shared spaces
Together, we can create a cleaner, healthier, and more beautiful Luna County.

Start Planning for the Recycled Art Show!
It may seem early, but now is the perfect time to start collecting materials and brainstorming ideas for the 2026 Luna County Recycled Art Show!
Every year, talented artists, students, families, and community members transform everyday discarded items into incredible works of art. From bottle caps and cardboard to scrap metal, fabric, plastic, and more, recycled materials can become something truly extraordinary.
Over the next few months, keep an eye out for items that might otherwise end up in the trash and ask yourself:
Could this become art?
Could this become a sculpture?
Could this tell a story?
The Recycled Art Show is about creativity, sustainability, and seeing possibility where others see waste. Whether you're a seasoned artist or trying something new for the first time, we encourage everyone to participate.
Start saving those materials, sketching ideas, and getting creative. November will be here before we know it!
What recycled item have you always thought would make a great art project? Let us know in the comments!
