What begins as a desperate grasp for peace slowly twists into something colder. Because silence, it turns out, isn’t the same as relief. And once you take something from the world, you don’t always get to choose what fills the space it leaves behind.

It’s a little eerie. A little sharp. And maybe a reminder that some wishes don’t just come true—they come at a cost.

I just submitted my short story, The Penny Wish, to Reedsy’s Inaugural Edition contest—centered on change and transformation.

It follows a girl who makes a careless wish on the worst day of her life… and wakes up to find it granted. No school. No pressure. No mistakes. But also—no place for her at all.

What unfolds is quieter than magic and a little sharper than it first appears. It’s about failure, and the fear of not belonging. About how easy it is to mistake struggle for proof that we shouldn’t be somewhere—when it’s actually the very thing shaping us into who we’re meant to become.

Sometimes the wish isn’t the gift.

Sometimes undoing it is.

I’ve officially submitted my short story The House on Morningside Hill to Strange Horizons.

It’s one of those stories that took its time—quiet, careful, a little strange—and I’m proud of how it turned out. Now it gets to sit on someone else’s desk for a while and see what happens.

Fingers crossed, deep breaths taken, and onward to the next thing.

Got an odd-ish email from a fellow writer today. Not sure yet if it's a scam, but i shared a link for my published short story that anyone can read. I'll have to wait and see if there is a reply and that sends up any red flags.
