Cooper's 🩵 (golden scholar) family is in the process of building a new home and pool, but in the meantime they're making sure their little water baby doesn't dry out 😂

✨ Skye ❤️ Recap ✨

A year ago, Skye came to stay with us shortly after being attacked by another dog. She is an only dog who just had a terrible experience who was suddenly spending time in a house with six dogs which was overwhelming to say the least. She paced, drooled from stress, and wanted nothing to do with the other dogs.

Over the course of her stay, though, she learned she was safe. She began relaxing, spending time with the other dogs, and even playing with Hazel 🥹

Fast forward a year, and Skye is back! She arrived a little cautious, but not scared. Instead of isolating herself, she chose to observe from a comfortable distance and take everything in at her own pace but within 24 hours, she had completely settled in. Now she's napping in the same room as everyone, hanging out with the group, and even starting to invite Hazel to play again.

Since Skye is a thoughtful, sensitive girl, we're focusing on low pressure activities that allow her to build confidence and positive social experiences. Today we played Find It, scattering kibble around for the dogs to sniff out together. It gave Skye and Hazel a chance to engage in a shared activity without any pressure or expectations.

Hopefully over the next few days we'll continue building her confidence and helping her reconnect with Hazel so she can relax, have fun, and let her silly personality shine through!

✨ Pool Time ✨

Skye ❤️ (Holly x Leo) doesn’t have much experience in the water yet, so we’re taking things slow in the pool to see if she might grow to enjoy swimming. I brought Hazel out as a “demo dog” so Skye could watch her playing and swimming and hopefully get a little more curious about it.

For her first experience, I only asked her to step onto the stairs where she could stand comfortably and easily exit if she wanted to. She wasn’t exactly thrilled, but she didn’t seem to hate it either, so we’re calling it progress 🥰
