The Historic Wellbrock House at 22 N. Swinton Avenue has been recognized as a Delray Beach Property of Distinction with a Historic Merit Award. 🏡
Built in 1937 and designed by Samuel Ogren Sr., the first registered architect in Delray Beach, the house was facing demolition before the CRA stepped in to relocate and restore it. Today it serves as CRA office space and stands as a testament to what is possible when historic preservation is a priority.

In recognition of Juneteenth, also known as National Independence Day, the Delray Beach Community Redevelopment Agency reflects on the importance of freedom, equality, and opportunity for all.
Juneteenth commemorates the end of slavery in the United States and serves as a reminder of the ongoing pursuit of justice, inclusion, and stronger communities. Today, we honor the resilience, history, and contributions of Black Americans and reaffirm the importance of creating spaces where every individual has the opportunity to thrive.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for last week’s CRA Social at the Edmonds Baine Building. It was great to connect with community members and meet the team behind some of the incredible businesses calling 5th Avenue home.
Mark your calendars — the next CRA Social is on September 3rd from 5–7pm at Work Space on 5th, located in the Edmonds Baine Building at 98 NW 5th Avenue.

A look back at the installation of the Gateway Feature at the intersection of I-95 and West Atlantic Avenue. Completed in 2013, the six 30-foot mural columns were designed by textile artist Michelle Newman with direct input from the Delray Beach community, reflecting the city’s rich history and cultural heritage.
The project was funded largely by the Delray Beach CRA, with additional support from the Florida Department of Transportation, and continues to welcome visitors to downtown Delray Beach to this day.

A present day look at “Endurance” — a 12-foot aluminum and glass mosaic sculpture by visual artist Cheryl Foster, located at the Libby Wesley Plaza at the corner of SW 5th Avenue and West Atlantic Avenue. 🎨
Unveiled in 2012 and funded by a Delray Beach CRA Call to Artists, the sculpture pays homage to the strength and resilience of Delray’s original African American settlers. The plaza was later renamed in honor of longtime resident and community activist Elizabeth “Libby” Jackson Wesley. A fitting tribute to a woman whose legacy is woven into the fabric of this community.

Welcome to Delray Beach! ☀️🌴 The Delray Beach CRA helped fund the installation of new wayfinding signage throughout the CRA District, replacing signs that had been in place since 2000. The updated signage improves navigation, reinforces neighborhood identity, and creates a more welcoming environment for residents, visitors, and businesses alike.
