Interviews = learning from everyone on your team
Ministry development = hands-on experience in new areas
Spiritual development = Sabbath, evangelism, generosity, Bible study, discipleship
Stretch assignments = growth past where they are now
Theological study = grounding in what your church believes
Custom assignments = your own goals, check-ins and deadlines

I had to be okay with showing up on Sundays and not being okay.

You cannot reach more, impact more, and stay out of burnout while holding ministry tight.

At some point you have to give it away.

Patrick Zaccaria holds a clear conviction on marriage and says plainly that it is a hill he will die on. Then he says what usually gets left behind when leaders defend that hill.

Full grace and full truth. Lacking either one means we are not really doing the ministry of Jesus.

No program. No launch plan. Just dinner parties, open doors, and neighbors.

What they found was distrust. People would back up the second Jesus came up. "Don't try to change me."

So they slowed down. They built friendships first. And out of those friendships came the chance to talk about Jesus.

Today that work is Thousand Rainbows Ministries, and Patrick is helping churches learn to do the same thing in their own communities.
