The sales at the Delaware County Fair provide an opportunity to support the youth from throughout the county as they sell their prize-winning livestock and baked goods. Your support as a bidder is welcomed and a bidder packet can be received by contacting Katie Meade at [email protected]. If you are unable to attend the sales on Tuesday or Wednesday evenings or want to pool your contribution with others, there is an opportunity for you. Become a member of the Delaware County Junior Fair Sales Buyers Club. Your contribution will be used to purchase animals at the sale that lack bidding support. Our objective is to make sure all youth who participate in the sale are rewarded for their hard work and effort. Membership applications are available at www.delawarecountyfair.com under the Junior Fair tab.

Today is the 122nd anniversary of the start of 4-H. On this day in 1902, A.B. Graham, superintendent of Springfield Township Rural schools in Clark County, established the Boys and Girls Agricultural Experiment Club. The first of its kind in the country, the rural program revolutionized agricultural youth education.
Kids who enrolled learned how to test soil quality, grow seeds, and explore the use of scientific theory to measure their success. This program later became 4-H, which stands for Head, Heart, Hand, and Health. The program aims to develop youth as individuals and as responsible, productive community members.
The first meeting was held in the basement of the Clark County, Ohio Courthouse. Today, millions of kids take part in 4-H programs all over the world.

Love seeing our alumni highlighted!!
Every month we feature a 4-H alum as our Face of Ohio 4-H. In November we spotlighted James Anderson, a Ohio State - Delaware County 4-H alumnus who works as a park naturalist for the Marion County Park District. Learn more about James’ story at https://ohio4h.org/december-2022/faces-ohio-4-h-%E2%80%94-james-anderson.
