We are so proud of Mariam Hasan, a rising senior from Olentangy Liberty High School in DACC's Clinical Medical Assisting program, who earned an exclusive honor this spring: being selected to serve on HOSA's State Executive Council.

Only five students from across the state are selected to serve on this Council each year -- marking the highest level of distinction for Ohio high school students involved in HOSA, an international leadership organization for students interested in pursuing careers in healthcare.

Through this distinguished leadership opportunity, Hasan will help plan and organize regional, state and national HOSA events, while also participating in exclusive networking opportunities across the country. She will represent Ohio on the world stage during her senior year, as she continues to chase her dreams of becoming a pediatric oncologist.

“To our knowledge, Mariam is the first student from DACC to achieve this honor,” said Tom Dyer, DACC Biotechnology Instructor and HOSA Chapter Advisor.

In celebration of Juneteenth, or Freedom Day, DACC offices will be closed on Friday, June 19th.

Just before the school year ended, DACC science students took on a hands-on challenge that brought classroom learning to life.

Working in teams, students designed and tested airbag systems to protect an egg during impact. Along the way, they applied concepts like force, momentum, and chemical reactions while learning how to collaborate like professionals in the workplace.

As instructor Megan Gibson shared, students divided responsibilities, trusted one another, and discovered what it means to work as a team toward a common goal.

It was more than a project. It was a real-world experience that brought a full year of learning together.

We are having a great week here at DACC Summer Camp!

Rising 7th-9th graders from across Delaware County are spending the week learning the basics of welding, biotechnology, visual storytelling and more! We are grateful to be able to host 10 camps this year, spanning a wide variety of labs across our building. Campers have been learning hands-on skills alongside our DACC instructors and students, gaining a real-world glimpse into an industry of their choice.

We are excited to see what our students learn and create tomorrow! And we are proud to serve as a hub for hands-on career exploration here in Delaware County.
