Back 2 Basics

I stole this. Why does this matter? Kids quit things all the time. I quit smoking ci******es at 29. Marlboro tried to prevent me from quitting. But i quit anyway. Lol. Maybe the sport is killing them from the inside and they need to quit. Maybe they are burnt out. Since some think any coach below high school is a moron go ahead and ask a high school coach what they think about trying to prevent kids from playing baseball. The answer will always be, they're not chasing kids so they can play. You're either 100% in or you're 100% out no one is begging you to play that will always be the answer. One of my favorite players quit to focus on the sports he loves the most. Good for him. You know I could wonder how he is since he doesn't play for us but I dont have to. We still text. Maybe kids play long enough or at a place long enough where they get what they need and move on. I didnt allow a kid on our travel team cause he had one hit in rec the previous year. Mom and Dad cussed me out, unfriended us on social media and still slander us to this day. Thats was 2021 BTW. That kid quit baseball. My fault? Not at all. Whose fault was that???? Not everything can be saved. But in all cases separating doesn't mean sever.

The game will humble you and you won't even see it coming. When the 13u Beasts ended this year I was struggling as a Coach. Frustrated with myself. Questioning my leadership. Most of all feeling like I let a group of young men down. This was the first time ever we didn't finish over .500 or win a championship. However, what a group of young men. The text thread they have and the amount of times I love you was said, made me realize it was better than i thought. This wasn't supposed to be a year of wins. This was a lesson on relationships. For me and most of the team. And then to get personal messages and phone calls from a few boys just hit me. This is the one that got me the most. This young man and I have a special bond. Im not a big parent guy, sorry been burned to many times, but love the young people I get to be around. Just when I was ready to step away from the game and move on too. Man I love this game.

5-0 on the weekend. Outstanding last game. No quit in these girls. Down by 4 in the top of the last inning scored 5 with two outs. Too many outstanding plays to post. What a team effort.
