Project Lightwell Foundation

Camp Kesem is a free sleep-away camp with the mission "To give children impacted by a parent's cancer a safe, fun space to escape stress, build peer connections, and simply enjoy being kids." This summer was the start of our partnership with Kesem, and we are so excited for what the future holds as we remind children of who they are outside of circumstance, together.

"Thank you again for your support of MDA Summer Camp. Leaving camp is hard for many of our campers...having their new rabbit friend helped ease the transition back home." A Lightwell is an opening made in a roof or ceiling, such that natural light can reach a dark and unventilated space. That's our goal. Project Lightwell rabbits will not save the world. They don't plug in or breathe. They will grow tattered with love. Their lasting message, however, it will breathe and shine in the most beautiful, invisible way without end. Here's to our brave friends with the MDA!

"I don't think your volunteers could truly imagine the impact those little handmade bunnies had. This summer, 450 campers each received one, and every single bunny found a child who loved it. We chose to give them out during our closing ceremony, right before the campers boarded the buses to head home. We told them that these weren't just stuffed animals—they had been lovingly handmade by people all the way across the world who would probably never meet them, but who wanted them to know they are loved." -Happy Trails for Kids in CA.

I am so grateful to have Project Lightwell quietly come alongside numerous camps and events this summer. We don’t always have the opportunity to post photos but in nearing weeks, I will begin to drop the goodness into our socials. Camp Lionheart, we are with you.

Collegiate athletes in Iowa delivering new beds (thanks to Love,Inc’s initiative) AND rabbits for those kids who absolutely need both!

So lovely to join this collaboration between Love,Inc and college athletes! In Iowa!

When PL gives rabbits to a partner organization, we are often hands off. Why? Because the very personal giving and relationship best announces the validity of the message to a child. We want relationships and dialects to spring off of us while we watch from afar. This past week I received an unexpected note that a mission center in Columbus gave rabbits to children who came for a hot meal over their Spring break. Postures changed. Givers were humbled to participate. People connected over the truth that we are all Loved no matter what.
