New crochet in from !! The Axo-Latte and Mana-Tea 😄

Something valuable we've learned having worked with Aryn of Sunshine Stitching (one of our very first local makers) is regarding the handmade nature of crochet. This is a medium that cannot be done by machine, which implies any crochet item you may find will always have been handmade.

Crochet is at peak popularity in recent years and is an incredible craft to tackle for yourself! However, due to its popularity it's also frequently made available on a TEMU scale of production. Think those suppliers stocking mall kiosks where you might find adorable crochet critters at attractively low prices. These low prices can only result from pennies per unit wages and perpetuates global labor issues.

This is not a promo for the sale of Sunshine's work. But an encouragement for thoughtful purchasing as we fill Easter baskets or make those impulse buys simply bc the thing's just so darn cute.

We all can only know what we know and this is a piece of knowledge we're so pleased to pass along in hopes to curb one small sector of these global labor problems. At Bowerbird, our crochet plushy selections will ALWAYS have been made by a small batch crafter. And very likely by our dear friend
